Substance use counselling
Support for substance use and addiction
Struggling with alcohol or other substances can feel isolating, overwhelming and filled with shame.
You may be using substances to cope, to numb, to escape, or simply to get through the day - and you may feel stuck in patterns you dont know how to change.
You are not alone and you are not beyond help

Understanding substance use
Substance use often develops as a response to:
- Stress or emotional overwhelm
- Trauma or painful past expereinces
- Anxiety and depression
- Relationship difficulties
- Feeling disconnected or unsupported
- A need for relief or escape.
It is not a moral failing
Its a coping strategy that may have previously helped you survive - but is now causing harm or distress
How i work with substance use
My approach is non-judgemental, compassionate and collaborative.
I wont label you, diagnose you or tell you what you "should" be doing.
Instead we will explore whats happening beneath the surface.
Together , we may look at:
- What role substances play in your life
- The emotions or experiences you are trying to manage
- Patterns that feel difficult to break
- Healthier coping strategies
- Building self-compassion instead of shame
- Strengthening your sense of agency and choice.
You set the goals
I support you in moving toward them at a pace that feels safe.
I can work with you while you are in active substance use as i have trained as a specialist in this area, meaning you dont have to wait to get the support you need .

You deserve support
Whether you want toreduce your use, stop completely, or simply understand your relationship with substances , therapy can help you make sense of what you are experiencing and find mew ways forward.
